The Story of Lacey Kay Cowden
Lacey Kay Cowden is an American singer, songwriter and musician, currently based in Los Angeles. Her musical style encompasses Americana, country, soul, rock, and folk.
Cowden was born and bred in Lafayette, Louisiana, but became a woman way out west. Her music is drenched in a swampy brew, celebrating her southern roots, but carrying a California breeze. Her lyrics traverse both unknown and familiar roads such as her song, ‘Wild Wonder’ flowing with her admiration and appreciation for where she’s been. “I was born in the world, wild and free, cut my teeth on the mountain and pulled by the rolling breeze. Nights lit by fireflies, I was running through the dark, humming lullabies that rose like smoke from the sparks.”
Cowden recorded her debut EP, ‘Go Great Guns’, with producer Matt Ellis at the renown ‘WaveLab Studio’ in Tucson, AZ. The outcome was a heartfelt 6 song EP, including signature Cowden songs as ‘Shotgun Lovin’', ‘The Walking Song’ and ‘Round and Round’.
Since then, Lacey has formed a band of confidants that frequent the Southern California music scene and had an ongoing residency up until 2020, called ‘The Grand Calamity’ at Venice’s oldest music venue, The Townhouse/Del Monte Speakeasy. The band is now gearing up to record their debut full-length album.
Cowden’s an an all around artist, in every sense of the word. By night, you can find her humming and strumming at the local haunts. By day, she’s working in her studio, creating art work for both herself and a rang of clients. She design all her posters and merchandise, while remaining a hired gun in LA.
